Just on my way home from a long tiring shift. And looking for some light breakfast that didnt involve Tim Hortons, Mcdo, eggs, bacon, hashbrowns.... So I began searching under breakfast category and this restaurant showed up. So I decided to give it a go....
MY BEST & MY WORST DECISION EVER.
Best because.... that CHEESE pastizzi ($2 each + tax) gave me a taste of HEAVEN ON EARTH. IT WAS FLAKY on the outside and very soft and flavourful on the inside. I inhaled it in just under 3 minutes.
Worst because...... I only bought 3pcs to go. Had I known that it would be that good, I wouldve bought a dozen!!!!!!
the size could be bigger for $2 but regardless, I WILL DEFINITELY COME BACK IN A HEARTBEAT. -

Maltese food in Canada! Sign me up.
First time really trying all these different types of food. The Pastizzi is very flaky, buttery and has a nice crunch to it. Tried both fillings and found them both unique. Can't say which one is better. Cheese is less flavorful but richer. Meat has a light curry flavor.
The rabbit pasta flavor was real nice but what bothered me is the pieces of rabbit in the pasta has bones. I have no issue with meat and bones but when in a pasta it's hard to stop and pick bones out.
The veal on a bun is your standard veal on a bun. -

To be honest I had never heard of Pastizzis but they are basically the perfect food. A flaky crust reminiscent of a croissant with a yummy cheese or meat filling. You can't go wrong! But these are also obviously high quality pastizzis and I could eat about a hundred of them. The cheese I think is ricotta which is not a favourite for me but I still enjoyed it in this amazing form. The meat one was probably my preference. It's awesome that you can purchase a bunch of them frozen to cook at home. I haven't tried this yet but would love to! (Although I'd eat them all in one sitting I'm sure) The space itself is fairly small and nothing fancy but it's cozy enough and there is some outdoor patio seating if the weather is nice. I also had a coffee which was quite good. I will definitely return!

Ok I've had all the pastizzis available in the GTA now and these guys are the tops.
Flakey and light with an airy filling that's as light as the pastry it's wrapped in.
They make everything by hand and they're always super friendly.
If you're in the area and have never tried a Maltese pastizzi I recommend you change that right now. Stop here and try a piece of the small country of Malta's most popular treat! You won't regret it. -

By far the BEST pastizzis one can buy cooked or frozen! In a rush or home late from work? Throw a few (like 6) in at 325 degrees for 30 minutes and you got a meal! Fantastic quality
